Into The Townships

An early start puts us onto Île Sainte-Hélène on our way across the St. Lawrence moving into the Cantons-de-l’est.

Saying adieu to Montreal

A stop at Newland Café (Charles thinks I’m a snob always looking for good coffee – and he’s right). They even roast their own beans!

Chambly

We made great time after the cafe even in the 30° heat. It was said heat that lead us toward some poor choices to combat our thirst. We ended up at a microbrasserie thinking it was also a restaurant. It wasn’t. What it was though was a reprieve from the sun and beer. Delicious beer.

The proprietor informs us that their restaurant in town is closed and recommends Louis’.

During dinner Charles is getting worried about our camping and goes outside to call. They’re closing in twenty minutes.

It’s all uphill but we make it and they’re lovely people. Even gave us four quarters for the showers. I gave two back saying we’d shower together 🥺
