Kindness of strangers

As you may have noticed from yesterday’s post, the servers, neighbours, hotel owners, have all be so warm and welcoming. Last night’s hotel was no exception. We were soaked and cold and the rain was getting worse. Anything would have worked but the room was superb.

  • In Sawyerville, James and Brian came over to see if we needed any tools. I ended up washing my hands in James’ dirty dishwater
  • the gentleman at the post office who offered to deliver the key back to our previous night’s hotel (oops)
  • of course the mechanic for lending me tools and a vice
  • the guy in the laundromat who insisted on putting our coins in the slots. The young woman doing her laundry was enjoying the show.
  • during the storm, the woman at the dépanneur who let us use the phone to modify our reservation (there was no cell service).
  • The owner of the restaurant in La Patrie who made us fresh coffee and brochette, let us charge our phones, use wifi and overstay our welcome.

All these examples make such a difference in getting us to our daily destinations without killing each other.

      • The thought crossed my mind Ro! Strange, but the torture made the norm seem like heaven. That area of Quebec ( a first for me) is magical. The roads disappeared into the clouds as they ascended the various mountains in the region. Cool, eerie and beautiful. Thankfully Paul’s ingenuity got me through that day. See you soon
