Toronto’s Waterfront

This is a recovery of a post that went somewhere into the ether…

It would have been much easier to write a small post after each riding day but it seemed I was lacking inspiration at times (and was into a good book when were were at our rest stops).

We continued to receive updates about ricky and although the kennel host is wonderful (Belinda), Ricky doesn’t look happy. Here is a little collage with the last photo showing him at home again.

Serious lap time at home

We had a good visit in Windsor staying at Dave and Allison’s place and enjoying a great meal with Meagan and Nicole. Saturday was Jewel’s 16th birthday party so I was able to see all of my family and then Penny and I spent Monday with her sister Kate and had dinner in Essex with Kate and John.

Windsor to Oakville

On the train to Oakville we realized that our AirBnB was 40 km from the train station. It turned out to be a beautiful ride along the Waterfront with the exception of a small industrial section in Mississauga. Found a nice spot in Port Credit for lunch featuring Old Credit beer. Made it to the condo near the mouth of the Humber and went to the beach to kill time. Had a swim in the condo pool and bought dinner at the Metro and relaxed on the outdoor terrace.Dave and Allison’s (Windsor)Waterfront Trail in Oakville

Etobicoke to Scarborough

Started the day with good coffee, packed and headed out again along the waterfront. Met up with Jack Layton, stopped for more coffee and then diverted south to the Toronto port and discovered a another world: the old Hearn Generating Station and Tommy Thompson Park

The Beaches

Had a great lunch on Queen St. in the trendy ‘Beaches’ area of Toronto. From there we started to see many signs reading ‘No access to Bluffs’. I didn’t realize the Scarborough Bluffs were such an attraction. We lost the trail at one point then we ended with a spectacular view from the top of the bluffs:

Arrived at our second AirBnB for a two night stay after an unfortunate ‘Bridesmaid’ moment. It’s a beautiful place with a pool and porch. We took the second day off completely, enjoying the pool and reading. We enjoyed a long chat with our host Paul and discovered that he is a real advocate for AirBnB with the city. He also told us of the number of new houses in the neighbourhood that remain unfinished. He believes some are being used to launder money. It was quite an eyesore.
