Why Google Cycling is in Beta

We had a great route planned from the airport to downtown Halifax using Google maps. When the road went from pavement to gravel to rocks and then a baracade we started to question our chosen path. A quick check told us it was this way or the highway (cliché intended). Lifting the bikes over the barrier we headed off dodging rocks and puddles and shotgun casings. A couple of puddles were so big we had to skirt the edges dragging our bikes through the water up to their axles. After a long 2.5 km we were back on pavement and moving well along a beautiful chain of lakes into downtown Dartmouth.

Found the ferry dock and were in Halifax in no time. Steep climb up toward the Citadel where we eventually found our BnB and Carl, Jeff and Roger too.

Night out in Halifax

Pat Smith and her grandson Simon

Off to the Gahan House for a well-deserved beer and a meeting with Nicole Malizia. Great craft beer, oysters, mussels and lots of conversation with the rest of the group. Capped the night like sardines listening to the great music of Signal Hill.
