I’ve taken a few days off writing and admit there isn’t much energy left after a day on the road, a visit with family and a bite to eat. Or maybe not much exciting is happening☹️
Port hope
The best thing about staying at a hotel in Port Hope was the ease with which I could pack up and be on the road. Started with a huge climb out of town followed by a quiet road along the lake – very hilly though!
The story of the day was about backtracking: there were road closures and bike paths under renovations. Often the only alternative was to head back and choose a different route. After three of these I decided to head up to county roads for a while making much better time.
The advantage to paths is they’re much cooler so as I’m heading down busy streets in Toronto I decided to go down into the Don Valley and follow its bike path. Missing a turn I ended up going past Bloor with the only way out being a huge staircase. I think I lost about an hour trying to get out!
Had a wonderful dinner and drinks with cousin Matt, Cornelia and Audrey.
Before starting out to Milton Matt receives a load of fire wood that needed to be hauled to the back yard.

Is there a map feature on the blog so we can see where you’re going?
I’ll post my route to this point and proposed route tonight
