Today’s plan was to get an early start in cooler temperature and maybe take advantage of the wind that we battled the previous day. The latter was not to happen.
Stéphan served us a wonderful breakfast with a choice of French toast or omelettes and plenty of fruit. Exactly the type of start one enjoys at the start of a bike ride.
We were planning to head back to the Misty Pines however after twenty kilometres everyone was up for a pit stop at the same beach where we had noticed a great climbing structure the day before.

After slides and tree climbing (and ablution) we headed out back to the B&B were we picked up the car and headed into Brockville.
Aquatarium
After a wood-fired pizza we headed to the Brockville Aquatarium where we anticipated seeing the river otters. They have really put together a great exhibit:
- The otters of course
- underwater creatures that one could hold
- a wind room to discover the science of sailing
- huge fish aquariums
- and of course the rowing machine
Rail tunnel
Walking through Canada’s first rail tunnel was absolutely fascinating. 525 metres long, it took six years to build. It was part of a rail line running from Brockville to Smith Falls. VIA Rail uses this line today on its Brockville to Ottawa line.
Returning to the B&B we met once more with Madge (I mean Betty) and discovered that we might have to stay an extra night just to read the rules! We unpacked and headed back to Brockville for a light dinner and walk along the water. Once again it was going to be an early night.
