Short jaunt to Carleton Place

Day one is a moderate start to our trip with a visit and stay in Adam and Sylvia’s back yard.

Carleton Place is home to Stalwart Brewing Co. which just happens to be founded by Adam and his friends. I have personally done my best, during the pandemic, to support them; an easy task as I love their brew.

Packed up the bikes and got an early start: two o’clock. Penny and Bill joined us for the first part of the journey then we were off along the trans Canada trail into Carleton Place.

Spent the first part of our stay winding up the kids before their bedtime.

Nothing is funnier than a joke told by a four year old; why does a seagull fly over the sea? Because if it flew over the bay it would be a bay-gull. The delivery nailed it!

Adam graciously agreed to pick up Indian food on the cargo bike and the four of us enjoyed dinner and conversation in front of a fire on the patio. Of course Stalwarts was on tap. Adam and Sylvia and their family are so grounded and quite refreshing. Great discussions and lots of laughs.

Accommodation in their tiny home trailer in the backyard was positively luxurious. Both Charles and I had a great night sleep and after morning coffee and some intrepidation went inside for a full crunch.

Said our goodbyes, a quick tour of CP including the brewery and we’re on our way to Perth for another coffee and bite.
