The plan is to replace four sections and three posts. The play toys have supported the fence through the winter but as you can see from the next photo, there is the tell-tale sign of wood sitting in a concrete ‘bowl’ that takes the life of a fence post all too soon.
With the fence removed, Julie had a great idea of planting the new posts beside the existing ones to avoid removing the concrete.
The first hole, done with a one-person post-hole digger from Home Depot, went so smoothly. Too much so. On holes two and three I hit a huge bolder and many roots.
I may get some feedback on my use of QUIKRETE Fence N’ Post but it went so well! After setting and plumbing the PostMaster™ steel posts (I’ve used the word ‘post’ a lot in this post) I simply poured the dry concrete mix to half full, added water, waited and poured the remain mix + water and tamped the top!
Return here in two days to see the attachment of horizontal components and the dressing of the PostMaster.
