We’re staying at this great motel in Stratton where Charles engages with the young family who live in residence at the back of the motel. They have a horse, two Angora goats, a miniature donkey, chickens and quail.
The two young siblings in charge of the chickens were adorable. Siyad and Synab.
- Charles: how much are the quail eggs?
- Siyad: $5
- Charles: I’ll give you five for the eggs, five for the tour of the coop. Here’s a twenty.
- Siyad: here are your eggs (eighteen of em). No change
Talking to one of the older siblings we find out that Leeann, the mom, has ten children, though not all from her loins as you may have been wondering. Siyad and Synab are adopted (Charles ended up breaking that news to them) and the others are a blend I believe. Wonderful people. Our stay was very relaxing
In the morning we found out that the kitchen in the basement is self-service. So down we go with our quail eggs in tow. Siyad and Synab are raising chicks in the basement and showed them to us while we were making breakfast.
Siyad says to Charles that the payment for the eggs takes his savings to $121. I mention the change and he looks befuddled. It was just a concept beyond him at this point. So cute.
Please stay with us as we arrive at the Atlantic coast…
