We begin phase two

It’s so great to find a small establishment that serves terrific coffee, baked goods made on site and even homemade porridge; good fuel to start our bike adventure on the right foot. Penny spoke to a couple from Colorado who we’re wrapping up the Cabot Trail part of their trip, they were very encouraging about the route and the hills. Often it’s the opposite and one walks away with fear and trepidation.

Packed up, checked out and were on our way. Traffic was very respectful often waiting a while to pass us safely. After twenty kilometers we turned off the busier road continuing on the Cabot Trail on a very scenic route where we finally returned to the coast at a beautiful beach.

Ran into the woman from Montreal that Penny had spoken to the day before. Turns out she splurged on a meal the night before at the same restaurant as our group. Next stop was our apple and cheese break along the water with a very different coastline from that above.

It was nice to arrive in Chéticamp with the added confidence that the roads are good, traffic reasonable and the hills can be conquered. We even biked an additional 2K to reward ourselves with soft ice cream.

We’re staying two nights here to rest up for the big day of the trip through the national park.
