The road to Madoc

From the previous post, you may not be surprised that we were reluctant to get on the rail path immediately out of Sharbot Lake.

More importantly, before doing anything, we stopped at the coffee shop for another great sandwich and coffee. I’ll start sounding like a broken record but one has to venture off the big highways to discover these nuggets in the small towns.

The rolling hills on the first road would be a harbinger of what we’re going to experience over the next few days.

Into the forest

After some okay trail time we got back on the road until the next crossing. We ran into a couple that we’d seen before on their ATV and they said the trail was rough. We did about 500 meters, turned around and decided to take Highway 7.

Almost immediately a trucker is blowing his horn and not giving way and we had to bail. Luckily this was to be the only incident but I’m starting to think we’re not going to make our destination. I was thinking we were getting back on the trail at Kaladar and assumed Charles was as well. Turns out we both wanted to stay on the highway where the shoulder became wider and we were cutting about fifteen kilometres off the route.

Madoc

Sue was our host at the Airbnb. Arriving after six left us without a source of beer but Sue was more than willing to help. We were able to order from a local restaurant and once again we were both ready for sleep.

A sticky pad on the back of my hat will fix all my bug issues…

  1. Loving the “into the forest” picture! Sounds like you are having a great time despite all of the hills.
